HB 4736: Hydraulic Fracturing Liability

With hydraulic fracturing, there is great potential for groundwater contamination from toxic chemicals that are used in the process. House Bill 4736 will hold hydro-fracking companies liable for contaminated groundwater that is within the vicinity of the well in which the fracking took place. This bill could encourage safer hydraulic fracturing practices, but might not be effective due to current hydro-fracking chemical disclosure laws.
