Senate Bill 449 increases the solid waste surcharge fee (a separate fee in addition to the usual payments and taxes)  on landfills within Michigan from $0.07 to $0.12 per cubic yard. It also extends the October 1st, 2011 end date on current waste surcharge fees until 2015. The fees will initially increase to $0.12 per cubic yard, and then will be increased by $0.01 each year until 2015.
